I begin this work inadvertently; I had been recording bits and pieces of my apartment through collage incorporating everyday materials in Apartment Studies. Many of these pieces hovered around the intersection between place and one’s own daily interactions with it (scuff marks from furniture on the floor, toothpaste collecting on a sink, the slow build up of cigarettes on the lawn, etc.). Some became so abstracted in their execution that they merely suggest a place or moment. As I packed up my belongings to move, I found myself repeating the same gestures in my work. Packing up the remains of my project, I gave each left over bit a place to belong while in transition. In the end, the transition turned out to be home
