I push the excavation process into the bedroom using successive layers of bed linens to carry personal narratives. We spend much of our time wrapped up in sheets from birth to sleep, to sex, to death; we imprint ourselves into the fabric. Each of the second-hand pillowcases I use has interacted with a body and retained their own history on the fabric surface. I utilize the history of the fabric by layering these bed sheets together this allows me to generate a personal history by stitching these strata pieces together. Freud describes how our beds are crowded. Relationships fill our lives and even after theyve gone, they leave residual marks.
