Express yourself through flowing forms and repetitive marks as we share a conversation through art materials. In this workshop led by Amanda Mulcahy, participants will be guided through their own intuitive drawing process. What will emerge remains to be seen as we create and explore our own visual vocabularies in community with each other. Elemental Puffs

Inspired by natural processes, I create vibrant soft sculptural pieces based on my investigations of how the earth continuously churns inert materials into complex forms. For Terrain Biennial’s Mycelium Connection I look at the relationship between fungi and environment. I am taken with the way fungi break down decaying matter into elemental components and disintegrate rocks, transforming their local ecosystems. These processes happen primarily underground, invisible to us. Through this installation I will focus on illuminating the connection between fungi and its surrounding terrain. The forms in my work, Elemental Puffs, are inspired by mushrooms with their surfaces reflecting the changes of their environment. These forms are covered in a dyed and painted canvas fabric. The dyes will begin to fade in long periods of direct sunlight and harsh weather revealing a screen printed image underneath. Responding to their environment, they will change over the course of the exhibition.
